How to Release Your Results from Subaru Observations

It is expected that your results obtained with Subaru Open Use observations will be published in a refereed scientific journal. We would also encourage you to release the results to the general public for educational and outreach purposes.

We would propose a press release of your results to the general public through the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ). The NAOJ press release will be announced to the media in Japan and around the world, and can publicize your results more widely and efficiently than if done by yourself.

There are two categories of NAOJ press release:

  1. As a beautiful image    ->   To be opened as soon as possible
  2. As a scientific result    ->   After acceptance for publication in a journal

We have two release methods as follows:

  1. Web release only
  2. Web release and press conference

We will advise of you the release categories and methods after examination by the Subaru Telescope public relations committee. Subaru Telescope will help to make images and captions for your release.

We would like you to send one of your preprint or reprint to the Subaru Library to arrange your results. Please note that NAOJ will only release results that have not been previously released via other media.

If you have any questions, please contact the Subaru Public Relations Office.
