Incorporates both astronomy and cultural themes.
Well-executed Kalakawa is a nice touch. (Inge)

Incorporates astronomy and culture. Interesting execution. (Inge)
3rd place:
Sarah Brinkman
Connections PCS, Grade 3
Judges' Comments:
This illustration of an observatory with a telescopic view of a voyaging canoe
using the moon and stars to navigate, is a creative and imaginative
interpretation of this young artist's "Journey through the Universe" (Tracey)
This picture contains both astronomy and navigation elements,
in a very interesting composition of looking through a telescope.
While the execution is clearly that of a very young person,
the choice of theme shows understanding beyond grade level. (Inge)
